Objective of EBC: Economic Backward ClassRajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulkh Shishyavrutti Yojna :-

Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulk Shishyavrutti Yojna 2022-23, Maharashtra is an initiative of the Directorate of Higher Education(DTE), the Government of Maharashtra to provide financial help to graduate and postgraduate students. The scholarship is applicable to students coming from economically weaker sections of society. The selected students will receive tuition fees of the course and examination fees. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulk Shishyavrutti Scholarship Yojna 2023-24 invites online application from all the candidates who are pursuing their Diploma/ Degree /Post Graduate professional courses. This Scholarship is also known as Scholarship for EBC (Economically Backward Class). This scholarship is granted by the Directorate of Higher Education(DTE), the Government of Maharashtra to provide financial assistance to the students who are unable to afford their education. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the Economic Backward Class (EBC) who are admitted to Diploma / Degree / Postgraduate Professional courses through Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

Eligibility for EBC-Economically Backward Class Scholarship:

Following are the eligibility criteria for application :

  • Applicant should be Domicile of Maharashtra and applicant belongs to Maharashtra State and Karnataka state border can apply for scheme
  • Family annual / yearly income limit is up to Rs. 8.00 lakh.
  • As per Government Resolution (GR) first two children are eligible for scheme.
  • Candidates that apply for admission through CAP in the general category are eligible.
  • Candidates who have taken admission through CAP in the general and SEBC categories are eligible.
  • After applying for EBC, the applicant may not receive any other scholarship or stipend.
  • EBC does not apply to distance education, virtual learning, or part-time courses.
  • The Courses approved by (Government /University/AICTE,PCI/COA/MCI/NCTE/ etc ) are eligible.
  • During the course, candidate should not have a gap of more than 2 years.
  • Applicant should attempt every semester or annual exam.

Two types of benefits the candidate or applicant may receive:

Documents Required for EBC – Economically Backward Class:

  • Student’s domicile certificate issued by Authorized official.
  • Student’s previous year Annual income certificate issued by Authorized official.
  • CAP Related document.(only for B.ed,Law, BPed,MPed).
  • Gap Related Document(if Gap is there)
  • Family Declaration Certificate about two children’s.
  • Attendance Certificate.

Renewal Policy of EBC – Economically Backward Class:

  • The students who have applied for last year scholarship can apply for Renewal of Application.
  • To renew the application :
    • Use students Application ID
    • Upload new Income Certificate.
    • Upload Bonafide Certificate.
    • Upload Fee Paid Receipt.
    • Upload previous year Mark sheet.
    • Family declaration certificate about two children

Application Form of EBC – Economically Backward Class:

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps –

  3. Complete the Aadhar card authentication process via OTP or biometrics.
  4. The candidate will get OTP on their registered mobile number (only if they opt for OTP authentication).
  5. Complete the registration process by filing required information.
  6. Complete the registration process by uploading necessary documents.
  7. Log in with your username details. (Please keep note of user ID and password for future reference)
  8. Fill the application form and submit it.

Guidelines for Aadhaar linking to bank account for EBC – Economically Backward Class:

Candidate’s Aadhaar should be linked with bank account is an important requirement for beneficiaries of various DBT schemes to receive DBT benefits in the account. It is very important that students who are not able to receive their Post Matric Scholarship DBT due to issues in Aadhaar linking can visit the nearest Post Office to open an India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) account with Aadhaar linking. Following documents are required to open the account –

  1. Mobile number
  2. Aadhaar number
  3. PAN Card (if available)
  4. Scholarship application ID in case of DBT not being received due to Aadhaar seeding issues

This facility for opening of accounts in Post Office to open an India Post Payments Bank ( IPPB) with Aadhaar linking is available for receiving DBT benefits for other students and public as well. The account opening is done in real time and in a paperless manner.

Rules for application for re-applying EBC- Economically Backward Class Scholarship:

The applicant must follow the steps as per your applicable cases listed below.

Case 1 : Fresh Student to the Portal for AY 2020-21

  1. Applicant should register on MahaDBT Portal
  2. Applicant should login into MahaDBT Portal
  3. Applicant should create his/her profile
  4. Applicant should apply for scheme

Case 2 : Last year Passed (A.Y. 2019-20) Students or Students with Gap & also benefits received

Scenario-1: Fresh Application- (Previous year all the applications disposed)

  1. Applicant should register on MahaDBT Portal
  2. Applicant should login into MahaDBT Portal
  3. Applicant should create his/her profile
  4. Applicant should apply for scheme

Yes.. If a student is from General / Open Category and his family income is below 8 Lac, then student can apply for EBC (Economically Backward Class ).

Yes.. You can apply for EBC scholarship even though you have taken benefit of EBC scholarship in 11/12th because 11/12th are non-professional courses and Diploma is professional course. Therefore, you are eligible to apply EBC scholarship if you have a valid income certificate of annual income is below 8 Lacs.

    1. Other than Maharashtra state candidate is not eligible for the EBC scheme. EBC, which means Economically Backward class is the scholarship provided by State Government. To take advantage of EBC, 50% of tuition fees will be provided to the student if he or she applies for EBC through the online mode and through the institution in which he or she took the admission.
